FÜD FAQ’s

1.What is the “FüD Feud”?

It is a cooking competition for amateur chefs.

 2. Who can participate?

Any adult 18 years or older, who has not graduated from culinary school or who does not work as a chef; this contest is for amateur chefs only.

 3. When and where will the FüD Feud be held?

Saturday, May 12th, 2012, at Orson Gygi Company, 3500 South 300 West from noon to 2:00pm.

4. How can I be in the FüD Feud?

Register online by APRIL 28th, 2012 to be in the feud. When you register, you will declare what category your dish will be in (appetizer, dessert, main dish or side dish) and what size t-shirt you want.

 5. Is there a fee to register?

Yes.  It costs $25 and pays for your FüD Feud t-shirt and goodie bag, and your chance for fame and glory.

 6. After I register, what should I do?

Nail down the perfect recipe. You must email your recipe to fud@feastupondelights.com by Friday, May 11th, the day before the FüD Feud as a Word Doc.  Make sure to include your name, the category of the dish (i.e. appetizer, dessert, main dish, or side dish), and a list of ingredients and assembly instructions.  On May 12th, cook your dish at home and bring it to Gygi’s.

7. What will you do with my recipe?

All recipes will go into the Füd Feud 2012 Cookbook, with pictures taken of your dish at the contest.

8. Where do I cook my dish for the contest?

You prepare your dish at home, and then show up on May 12th at 11:30am – 11:45 am to “check-in” your prepared dish.

 9. How much food should I bring?

Bring in quantity the amount that you would take to a large potluck.

 10. Are there any restrictions on the ingredients I can use in my dish?

Due to the cultural climate of the region, dishes cannot contain alcohol, coffee, or tea.

 11.  How will my dish be judged?

Your dish will be in two separate competitions.

Professional judges will pick the FüD Feud winners of the appetizer, dessert, main dish and side dish categories based on Taste (deliciousness), Appearance (looks), and Originality (creativity.) You will be given a plate at the competition to dish up your entry and submit to the judges.

The remainder of your dish will be judged by the registered participants  in your chosen category; appetizer, dessert, main dish or side dish.  You will each get to vote and help to choose the Taster’s Choice Winner in your category.

12.  How many winners will there be?

There will be a First, Second and Third place winner in each of the four contest categories: Appetizer, Dessert, Main Dish and Side Dish (12 winners.)  There will also be one Taster’s Choice winner in each category as determined by the participant’s votes (4 winners).

13.  Can I still win something if I don’t win a trophy?

All registered participants still have a chance to win!  Upon arrival at the contest, all participants will be entered into a raffle with many delightful goodies, such as cooking gadgets, gift cards, and restaurant certificates.  One lucky amateur chef will walk away with a commercial grade Blendtec Blender ($400 value!)

14. Can friends and family come to cheer me on?

Yes! Friends and family are welcome at Gygi’s to come and support, encourage and root for you. They can even sample the dishes once the Taster’s Choice judging has taken place.  Let’s make it a party!
